about

As we approach the end of our world as we know it we need to think about how the next generation will bow out of the perfect planet that the 'boomer' generation has left them.

We've had plenty of time to do something about the way the world is going - with many influential folk raising the alarm with Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" mapping out the problems. Even Arnold Swartznegger tried to kick California into action when he was the governator.

This song was written for a show staged in 1999 called "Think about our lives" and it is a real shame that the situation has not changed 25 years later.

lyrics

When I was a younger man I saw better than today,
For my eyes could see the future and they told me what to say.
But the world has come between me and the visions that I knew.
And the years that lie within us mean that all I see is you.

And we'll all stand together for that final curtain call.
We'll hold our hands and take a bow as the lights begin to fall.
And we'll think about what might have been, the hostages to fate.
And we'll all stand together before it gets too late.

Now I'm older but no wiser and I still get so confused.
How we took a perfect planet and left it broken and abused.
But if we don't see the sun set and we're not in for the kill.
we may not see our planet die, but our children surely will.

And they'll all stand together for that final curtain call.
They'll hold their hands and take a bow till the lights begin to fall.
And they'll think about what might have been, the hostages to fate.
If we'd all stood together
Before it was too late
Before it was too late
Before it gets too late
Before it gets too late.
